National Gallery Pre Wedding Shoot Photography Guide
Capture your couple photos at one of the most iconic pre-wedding photography locations in Singapore - The National Gallery. With the elegant and old European style architecture, it is definitely one of the best location backdrops to choose.
Be it rain or shine - You won’t have to worry about the weather if you are doing the shoot indoors.
The whole interior is also air conditioned - Making it great for brides and grooms who are prone to perspiring under the hot and humid Singapore weather.
Booking Procedure: Do take note that there will be an additional booking fee of SGD 380 for a 2-hour time slot, with only six time slots daily. The booking has to be made at least five days in advance, with slots depending on availability. Bookings can be made from this link here or email venues@nationalgallery.sg
However, the outdoor locations around the building itself are complimentary.
Having been here for multiple shoots, we have scouted 8 different spots within the gallery to create stunning and timeless memories for your pre-wedding shoot.
Padang Deck
Located at the top floor of National Gallery City Hall wing, it is an outdoor wooden deck with an amazing view of the Singapore skyline in the background. This is where we usually like to start our photoshoot and there is a specific corner with the Supreme Court Building in the background.
2. Upper Link Bridge & Lower Link Bridge
The Upper Link Bridge, situated between the Supreme Court and City Hall wings of the National Gallery, is a unique pre-wedding photography location in Singapore. The bridge, positioned on the fourth floor of the building, provides stunning natural light that streams in through the glass ceiling, making for perfectly lit photographs. As the highest bridge in the building, the Upper Link Bridge offers a bird's-eye view of the surrounding areas and is an ideal location for capturing breathtaking photos with a view.
3. Supreme Court Terrace
The Supreme Court Terrace is the next location for pre-wedding photography. Situated on the 4th floor of the Supreme Court Wing, this location offers natural sunlight shining through the glass ceilings during the day, creating a beautiful natural glow in your photos. This is the perfect spot for couples who want a touch of elegance and sophistication in their pre-wedding photos.
Photography Tip: In order to capture the couple’s faces in the correct exposure, a flash is recommended.
4. Padang Atrium
The Padang Atrium is a ground level walkway located between the Supreme Court Wing and City Hall Wing. The natural light that shines through the entrance area creates a perfect lighting setup for capturing beautiful shots of the bride and groom. The backdrop of the 4-storey high windows and the building facade adds a touch of elegance and grandeur to the photos, making it an ideal spot for pre-wedding photography.
5. UOB South East Asia Gallery
The UOB South East Asia Gallery, located on the third level of the Supreme Court Wing, is a great indoor location for pre-wedding photography. The concrete walls and grand balcony entrances create a stunning backdrop that resembles a European castle hallway. However, it's important to note that this location may not always be available, as it could be used for exhibitions at times.
6. Supreme Court Foyer
The Supreme Court Foyer is a must-visit location for pre-wedding photoshoots at the National Gallery. With its classic and sophisticated black and white checkered floor tiles and grey concrete walls, it provides an elegant backdrop for your photos. It's a versatile location and is perfect for solo shots of the bride and groom. The Supreme Court Foyer is definitely one of our favourite spots in the National Gallery!
Photography Tip: Bride and groom solo shots here will have a very editorial vogue magazine fashion look.
7. Supreme Court Foyer Staircase
The Supreme Court Foyer Staircase at National Gallery is a perfect spot for capturing stunning couple shots. The grand staircase provides an elegant backdrop, and if you have a long train or veil, we can capture the entire outfit flowing onto the steps. It's a great way to add a touch of drama to your pre-wedding photoshoot.
Photography Tip: Capturing a top-down view from the second floor is another creative option to play with.
8. Former Supreme Court Entrance
This sheltered entrance area, just outside the building is perfect for walkway shots. It is no longer an active entrance way and no cars are able to access it. That means we can take our time to get the perfect shot we need.
9. Parliament Place Entrance
Located near the National Gallery, the Parliament Place Entrance. The long stone pillars of the entrance create a stunning and grand backdrop for photos, perfect for capturing elegant and classic shots.
10. Supreme Court Lane (Zebra Crossing)
The Supreme Court Lane Zebra Crossing is a great spot for some playful walking shots. However, it is important to be cautious of oncoming cars when crossing the road.
11. City Hall Steps
The City Hall Steps is a grand staircase and a popular pre-wedding photography location at National Gallery. Its historic architecture and grandeur make it a stunning backdrop for both individual and couple shots.
12. Supreme Court Building
Ending the pre-wedding photoshoot with the entire Supreme Court Building in the background is always a great idea. We usually choose a cordoned-off area to avoid any interruptions from passing cars, ensuring a peaceful and serene atmosphere to capture beautiful couple poses. The stunning architecture of the Supreme Court building serves as a grand backdrop, creating a memorable end to the photo shoot.
In conclusion, the National Gallery is a fantastic choice for couples looking to capture beautiful and timeless pre-wedding photos.
